With its myriad natural wonders, the earth we are living on is marvelous. Let’s take a look at some breath-taking images of the earth from a perspective of space and prepare to be impressed by what you are about to see.
1. The Blue Sphere
From the perspective of space, the earth is a blue sphere covered by a layer of the atmosphere and it looks absolutely majestic. When we see such a beautiful picture of the earth, we should really think about what we can do to protect this planet we call home.
2. The Himalayan Mountains
From this angle, the Himalayan Mountains look different from what we see on the ground. The crisscrossing rivers and streams have cut through the landscape, making it look like a piece of tree-root artwork.
3. The Deserts Of Iran
Can you recognize where the place in the image is? This bewildering picture from the ISS is actually a shot of Iran’s deserts. It looks like an impressionistic painting created by the famous artist Vincent van Gogh.
4. Great Barrier Reef
This is an amazing photo of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef taken by the ISS. It looks as beautiful from above as it is down below, but people with thalassophobia may feel terrified of this picture.
5. Yellowstone Volcano
This astonishing photo of the Yellowstone Volcano from space shows us how majestic nature is! The caldera, measuring 45 kilometers wide and 75 kilometers long, was formed about 640,000 years ago.
6. Hurricane Isabel
We’ve already seen horrifying hurricanes on the ground, but what does nature’s fury look like from space? In 2003, the International Space Stations’ cameras captured Hurricane Isabel bearing down on the east coast of the United States, which looks horrifying.
7. An Erupting Volcano
This startling picture is a record of a massive erupting volcano. It gives a clearer look at the immense power of the eruption than can be observed from the ground.
8. The Sahara’s Sunrays
In this incredible image, the Milky Way galaxy is blended with the stars and contrasted with the horizon. The vastness of space even makes the earth’s enormous Sahara Desert in the foreground look inconspicuous.
9. Momotombo Volcano
This photo, taken in late 2018, shows the magnificence of Momotombo volcano in western Nicaragua. From this angle, we can see plumes of vapor coming from the volcano. It’s unbelievable this area was once regarded as “the smoking terror.”
10. Mt.Cleveland
In this picture, Mt.Cleveland was erupting along with an ash cloud bursting forth into the atmosphere. It is another impressive view of nature at its most dangerous.
11. Cape Cod
The ISS gives us an aerial view of Cape Cod that we can’t see elsewhere. From this angle, the barrier island, likely formed 20,000 years ago by glaciers, looks like a giant hook floating on the sea.
12. Midsummer Sunrise
This perfectly timed sunlight is a brilliant reflection of the beauty of our planet. It was taken at around 4 am when people on earth were actually still in the dark.
13. Adele Island
In this shot, it appears that Adele Island, off Australia’s north coast, is a much larger land mass. But in fact, it is only 2.9 km long. You may notice that part of the island is light blue, and that’s because it is covered by shallow water.
14. Moonrise Over The Aurora
This is an incredibly beautiful shot of a moonrise from the International Space Station. We can see the majestic atmospheric glow of the aurora below. It exudes an air of serenity that will make anyone who sees this feel instantly calmer.
15. Laguna Colorada
From this aerial view, we can see the panorama of lake Laguna Colorada. The color of the waters seems a little strange, and that actually results from the large number of algae that make up part of the ecosystem.
16. The Frozen Wild Dnieper River
ISS snapped this photo of the frozen tundra, and from space the winter landscapes seem absolutely magical. We can see the 1,400 mile Dnieper River is covered by snow, making the picture look like a masterpiece of frozen curling branches.
17. Salt Ponds
We have an aerial view of the coastline of western Australia here. At the center, the salt ponds seem like a giant lidless eyeshadow palette, making the shore easy to identify.
18. Hawaii
As the most famous tourist resort, Hawaii, from this angle, looks like an irregular leaf floating on the blue ocean. Look closer, and you will notice the peaks of the volcanoes on this island.
19. The Iberian Peninsula In The Night
Apart from natural wonders, the International Space Station’s camera also recorded the bright glow of the towns and cities of the Iberian Peninsula. It is another reflection of the beauty of our world.
20. Artificial Fish Farm
Although man’s power looks insignificant when confronted with nature, human activities have evidently to some extent affected the earth. Here, the camera recorded a man-made fishing farm on the coast of Northern China. We can see shallow seabeds, mudflats, bays, and even fish-farm basins made up of wood.
